VOIP Phones

What we’ve been up to this month – VoIP Phones

VoIP Phone

We’re delighted to have been rushed off our feet this month, with most of our existing clients – and some new ones – deciding that the beginning of 2010 would be the ideal time to upgrade their systems.

While this has involved much of the usual equipment such as new PCs with Windows 7 etc, it has also included a few customers switching over to VoIP Phones.

As you probably know, VoIP stands for ‘Voice over Internet Protocol’ and is basically a telephone system that uses your broadband internet connection to make calls.

The benefits of a VoIP system include

  • Cost – Calls are far cheaper using VoIP than on a traditional telephone line
  • Phone Features – Though you can convert your existing phones for purpose, VoIP phones are available with features such as multiple connections, built-in video camera, caller ID, audio enhancements and external speakers.
  • Portability - Wireless VoIP will work with any WiFi connection around the world – i.e. airports, hotels, cafés and other public venues.
  • Choice of Communication - A VoIP phone can be used for computer-to-computer calls as well as calls from a computer to a traditional telephone.
  • Clarity of Sound – Though this can depend on a number of elements, including equipment and Internet connection, VoIP can be better than traditional telephone service.
