Case Study: Cirencester business finds a friend in BITS
Cirencester Friendly Society (CFS) was established in 1890 in Cirencester and caters for the income protection needs of tens of thousands of customers from all walks of life from across the UK.
Even for a business with its roots in the 19th century it is vital that it moves forward with its IT infrastructure and efficient ways of working.
For three years BITS have complemented the in-house IT function of CFS by providing specialist resource and consultancy. BITS also provide resource for holiday cover. Geoff Thomas IT Manager for CFS comments “By using BITS we are able to optimise our IT budget because it means we do not have to provide for specialist resource in house. This is highly cost effective because this specialist knowledge is not required permanently so we can call on BITS as and when we need them”.
One example where BITS has helped CFS is with disaster recovery. CFS uses an off site provider for office and IT equipment in the event of a major incident such as a fire. BITS carried out a full test of this disaster recovery procedure to ensure it was fit for purpose.
BITS has also supported CFS with mobile email configuration thus enabling staff to work remotely.
Geoff Thomas rates BITS highly and comments “BITS are readily available when we need them and respond to issues in a timely manner. They also have a can-do attitude when it comes to resolving issues for us”.
