Conficker Worm - no BITS clients affected
The Conficker worm started spreading late last year, infecting millions of computers and turning them into "slaves" that respond to commands sent from a remote server that effectively controls an army of computers known as a botnet.
The Sun screamed in its headline on March 27th, "9 million PCs under threat of hijack on April 1st". What has happened instead is the virus is slowly spreading and is is quietly turning thousands of PCs into servers of e-mail spam and installing spyware. There's more breaking news on this story here.
I'm pleased to say thanks to the robust protection we routinely put in place, no BITS customers have been infected with the Conficker worm. BITS is continuing to monitor developments to keep our customers protected.
