Microsoft silent on Windows 8 general upgrade UK pricing

Microsoft is keeping silent on the general upgrade pricing for the UK, though they have stated that the announced US pricing of $39.99 will apply across the board.

Microsoft has announced that it will be providing a downloadable upgrade for all Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 users for just $39.99, which works out about £25.58 at today’s exchange rates. There will also be a packaged DVD version available for $69.99, about £44.78.

By way of contrast the current pricing for a boxed Windows 7 upgrade from Amazon is £80.

The promotion runs till January 31st 2013.
